美國在台協會對於我們的同事馬志修先生（Matt Matthews）的逝世深感悲痛，他是許多人的良師益友。馬志修是美國國務院資深外交官，成就斐然，近期曾擔任美國駐汶萊大使、美國駐亞太經合會（APEC）大使、美國國務院東亞和太平洋事務局副助理國務卿，其他外派地點包括印太地區的大使館和領事館。馬志修曾兩度任職於美國在台協會經濟組，他是一位優秀的同事，也是台灣的摯友，在促進緊密的美台經濟關係上更是不遺餘力，我們會永遠記得他的慷慨大方和充滿感染力的笑聲。
AIT was deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague Matt Matthews, who was a dear friend and mentor to so many. Matt had an impressive career in the Foreign Service, most recently serving as U.S. Ambassador to Brunei and previously as the U.S. Ambassador to APEC, a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the East Asia and Pacific Islands Bureau, and at embassies and consulates across the Indo-Pacific Region. He served twice in AIT’s Economic Section and is remembered fondly as a wonderful colleague, a friend to Taiwan, a tireless advocate for closer U.S.-Taiwan economic ties, and a generous spirit with an infectious laugh. He will be missed.
